Hi Sixers and friends. I appreciate your comments as I continue with Starting Over. Emily and Patrick marry. She finds he is a complex troubled man letting his past interfere with their future. In this scene Patrick explains himself.
excerpt:
“I want you to know that I’m through looking in the rear view mirror at my past. You miss what’s right out in front of you, within reach. I’m through beating myself up over well-meant intentions gone wrong. Now I promise you, my precious wife,” Pat stopped walking and faced her, “I’ll love you and take care of you always. You accepted me from the beginning at face value for who I am and who I could become. Thank you, Emily, I’ll never let you down.”

Starting Over by Charmaine Gordon
I don’t like hearing a guy say, “I’ll never let you down.” Inevitably, they do. I wonder what his troubles are? Did he look at her when he said this? My guess, his gaze shifted and couldn’t look her square in the eyes.
Carrie, love the second time around is tricky as Emily finds out very soon. Thanks, my constant reader.
Who is he trying to convince? Her or himself? Nice tension here!
Both and good point. Mayhem ahead. Tune in next week. Thanks, Silver.
He has very sweet intentions. I just hope he follows through on his word. Nice six! 🙂
It will all be revealed soon enough. Thanks, Jessica.
Never say never, Pat. You’re just asking for trouble. Well done six!
Hey Vivien, you’re so right and trouble is what Patrick gets. Thanks.
I agree with Carrie Crain! I immediately suspect Pat is not going to keep his promise.
Very sweet sentiment, but it makes me nervous too. 🙂
Nice six that immediately makes me wonder what’s going to go wrong.
It’s hard to believe such big pronouncements. Promises are easy, actions are much harder. A person doesn’t change that quickly.
Le sigh…
I hope he can live up to his words. Moving, emotional six!
